A Turn-Key
System Delivering Lower
Air Temperatures, More Efficiently, In Any Climate |
|
| While we will be adding
information about our technology to this site throughout 2000, we
will officially introduce the Polar Works Inlet Air Cooling system
at the Power Gen show (and on this Web site) in November. If you need
more technical details before then, please contact
us. |

| A New Category of
Power Generation System |
| At Polar Works,
we are developing our technology with a goal of re-defining the standards
used to measure inlet air cooling (IAC) systems and their application
to gas turbine power generation. In reviewing the other inlet air
cooling technologies on the market, we realized that all were constrained
by their ability to deliver cold and dry air. This constraint meant
that their operations were limited significantly, reducing their economic
value to the plant. |
|
| Additional Power,
Additional Revenues |
| The Polar
Works solution has been to develop a desiccant-based system that achieves
lower air temperatures at higher rates of energy efficiency than other
methods on the market. Because the relative humidity in the air from
the Polar Works IAC System is less than 65%, our technology can operate
at lower air temperatures than other systems that produce more humid
air. In fact, we can seek temperatures as low as 0°F (-18°C).
This means that the Polar Works IAC System can be operated year-round
in most climates, producing significant additional power potential
throughout the year. The Polar Works IAC System thus reveals the "hidden"
capacity in each plant, as shown in a comparison
of Polar Works' technology with other inlet air cooling techniques.
For any power plant selling capacity, spinning reserve, or any other
reserves, this translates into additional revenue opportunities. |
|
| Turn-Key Installations |
| Polar Works
will design, specify and construct turn-key Polar Works IAC Systems.
Green-field construction projects will find this technology appealing
to build into their operations from the start. In addition, the increasing
demands of the Merchant market make the Polar Works IAC System a wise
choice for back-fit to existing utility and IPP gas turbine plants.
Because our technology is specified for air temperatures as low as
0°F, we can install a system at any time of the year and still
make plenty of extra power right away. |
|
| As an alternative
to turn-key installations, Polar Works also provides Build/Own/Operate
capabilities. |
